Healthy Lungs in Florida Screening Program

Great news! The Florida Lung Health Coalition has secured a funds to help qualified candidates get screened for lung cancer. One of our goals is to remove barriers to screening exams. Cost has been identified as one of those barriers, especially for those who are under-insured or are without insurance. If cost is a challenge for you, this program may help. Even if you have insurance, you may still qualify.

Those eligible for a Low-Dose CT Lung Cancer screening exam are:

Those between 50 and 80 years of age.

Those who currently smoke or have quit in the last 15 years.

Those who smoked for 20 "pack years."

Multiply the number of packs per day by the number of years smoked to determine the “pack year.” For example, 2 packs a day x 10 years = 20 pack years and high risk. 1 pack a day for 20 years = 20 pack years and high risk.

To qualify for the Healthy Lungs in Florida screening program, you must meet the criteria listed above and all three of the following requirements:

You are a resident of Florida, specifically near the Treasure Coast.
You have a prescription from your physician.* If you do not have a prescription, we can assist you in obtaining one.
You cannot afford the exam. No tax documentation is required, just a short application.

*If your doctor has recommended a diagnostic Chest CT exam, you will not qualify for this screening exam.

If you feel you meet the exam criteria and qualifications above, the process unfolds as follows:

You complete the financial application.
After your application is reviewed, a Florida Lung Health representative will contact you.
If your application is approved, we'll provide you with a list of participating imaging centers and a voucher to pay for the exam.
You schedule your exam at the most convenient time and location.
